Irish trade data released on Friday (February 14th) showed that the export sector was remarkably resilient in 2019, with goods exports up 8.5% to €153bn – broad-based across pharmaceuticals, agri-food and indigenous manufacturing. The big picture is that Ireland has weathered the slowdown in global trade because it has little exposure to capital goods production. Meanwhile, services exports grew by 17% in 2019, driven by the buoyant ICT sector and business services.
