Dublin’s summer has started slow, with May RevPAR weaker due in part to an exceptionally strong yearly comp driven by higher events business that was not repeated in 2019. Looking into June, concert events are stronger for Dublin which should provide a better finish to H1. Regional Ireland remains positive – even with the 4.5% VAT headwind that both markets are facing in 2019. The UK market was mixed in May, with Greater London delivering positively while Regional UK remains soft. The budget segment remains weak in both markets, with Regional UK continuing to be under the most pressure.
